Dr Mader trained as a molecular biologist with a particular focus on the control of gene expression in the laboratories of Prof. Pierre Chambon (France) and Prof. Nahum Sonenberg (Canada). She has been appointed at Université de Montréal since 1995. She is currently Associate Professor in the Biochemistry Department and holds the CIBC Breast Cancer Research chair. Dr Mader is also cross-appointed at McGill University (Department of Medicine, Experimental Medicine Program, and a member of the McGill Centre for Translational Research in Cancer and Montreal Center for Experimental Therapeutics in Cancer. Her main research interests are the mechanisms of action of nuclear receptors and the control of cellular growth in hormone-dependent cancers. Experimental approaches used to investigate these areas combine classical cellular physiology and molecular biology with genomics/proteomics and bioinformatics.
