Social and personal identity
(PSY6322)

Course description

The main objective of this course is to improve the development of scientific thought in social psychology.  Specifically, the topics covered will deal with identity, interpersonal and intergroup relations. In this course students will develop their own theory in the field of social psychology. The topics will be proposed by the professor, but may also be chosen by a student. At the end of the course a student will present orally his or her theory to other students and guests. A research report in the form of a scientific paper is expected (and ideally could be submitted for publication in a peer review journal or for a national or international conference). Students will also have to present an important scientific work in the field of social psychology and lead the discussion afterwards. Seminars facilitate cooperation with the professor and other course students.
